Synopsis

Leonard – a single parent and statistician in home office – seems lonely and boring to his very teenage daughter and his fun-loving father. What they don’t know is that Leonard is writing romantic fiction. At last he has a chance of publishing a book, but there is a slight problem. The author must be a woman…

The author & the play

Simon Williams (b. 1946) is a British stage, television and film actor possibly known to some as James Bellamy in the T.V. series Upstairs, Downstairs (Das Haus am Eaton Place) in the 1970s.
Originally entitled Kiss My Aunt, Nobody’s Perfect premiered in 1997. Our version is a later rewrite. As the author said, “topical today is passé tomorrow”. Williams played Leonard when he was 54, more out of necessity than choice, with just three weeks of rehearsals. The Keller Theatre knows the feeling, but happily we had a bit more time for this production.
